Dear Strong Mom: A Letter to the Woman Who Does It All
Share
Dear Strong Mom,
I see you.
I see you waking up before everyone else just to get a workout in — not because you have to, but because it's the one hour that belongs entirely to you. I see you packing lunches, answering emails, managing schedules, and somehow still showing up for yourself in the middle of all of it.
I see you on the days when you're running on three hours of sleep and you still lace up. On the days when the guilt creeps in — should I be spending this time with them instead? — and you go anyway, because you know that a stronger you is a better you for everyone in your life.
I see you doing hard things quietly, without applause, without anyone noticing. And I want you to know: it matters. You matter.
The Invisible Load You Carry
Motherhood comes with a weight that doesn't show up on any scale. It's the mental load of remembering everything for everyone. The emotional labor of holding your family together while quietly falling apart and putting yourself back together again.
It's the way you shrink your own needs to make room for everyone else's — and then wonder why you feel so empty.
You are not a machine. You are a woman. And women need to be filled up, not just poured out.
Taking Care of You Is Not Selfish
Let's put this one to rest, once and for all.
When you work out, you are not abandoning your family. You are modeling for your children what it looks like to prioritize your health. You are showing your daughters that women's needs matter. You are showing your sons what a strong woman looks like.
When you invest in yourself — your body, your mind, your peace — you come back to your family with more. More patience. More energy. More presence. More joy.
That's not selfish. That's the most loving thing you can do.
You Don't Have to Earn Rest
You don't have to finish the to-do list before you rest. You don't have to hit a certain number before you celebrate. You don't have to be a certain size before you feel worthy of taking up space.
You are enough right now. In this body. In this season. With everything unfinished and imperfect and beautifully in progress.
We're Building Something Here
This community — SheStrong — exists because of women like you. Women who refuse to disappear into their roles. Women who are building strength alongside everything else they're building.
And starting next month, we want to celebrate you.
We're launching our Community Spotlight series — a monthly feature honoring real women in the SheStrong community who are showing up strong in their own lives. Our first spotlight drops in May, just in time for Mother's Day.
We're starting with our own story. And then we want to hear yours.
Stay tuned. And in the meantime — keep going. You're doing better than you think.
With love and strength,
Lindsey & the SheStrong Team
