What My Daughter's Birthday Taught Me About Strength

What My Daughter's Birthday Taught Me About Strength

Every year on my daughter's birthday, I cry. Not sad tears — the kind that come when something is so full of meaning your body doesn't know what else to do with it.

Watching her grow up is the greatest privilege of my life. And every year, she teaches me something new about what it means to be strong.

She Doesn't Know She's Brave — She Just Is

Kids don't overthink courage. They just do. They try the scary thing, fall down, get back up, and try again — without the inner critic telling them they're not ready, not good enough, not strong enough.

Somewhere along the way, we lose that. We start waiting until we're ready. Until conditions are perfect. Until we feel brave enough.

My daughter reminds me every year: you don't wait to feel brave. You just go.

She Celebrates Everything

Every milestone matters to her. Every small win gets a dance, a cheer, a full-body celebration. She doesn't minimize her progress or compare it to someone else's. She just celebrates — fully and without apology.

That's something I'm still learning. To celebrate the small wins. To let myself feel proud without immediately moving the goalpost. To dance a little more.

She Doesn't Give Up — She Pivots

When something doesn't work, she doesn't quit. She tries a different way. She asks for help. She figures it out. There's no shame in the pivot — just curiosity and determination.

That's evolution. That's exactly what SheStrong is built on.

She Makes Me Want to Be Better

The truth is, I built this brand for her. I want her to grow up seeing a mom who didn't play small. Who built something from belief. Who showed up even when it was hard.

Every time I want to quit, I think about what she's watching. And I keep going.

Happy Birthday, My Love

To my daughter — thank you for making me braver, softer, stronger, and more grateful than I ever knew I could be. You are my greatest evolution.

And to every woman reading this — I hope you have someone in your life who reminds you of your own strength. And if you don't, let this community be that for you.

You are stronger than you know. Keep going.
